I love it too: hehe... last night I saw it again: Miss Lake doing those "magician tricks" while singing is just lovely- But the scenes between Lake & Ladd where she told him that "everybody needs a friend..." are heartbreaking- Poor Ladd (role) .. I feel very sorry for him, but the director (I guess) made a "good ending" if u wish: I don,t want to be a spoiler- But... David.. u know what I mean: He
in peace & doing a good action- ( he saw Veronica,s fiancee helping her.. so he didn,t..... etc etc-
- UnclePS: did u noticed that EVEN with hats hiding her famous hair she IS lovely?-

Re: Recent Movies Watched
I saw LOLITA, 1962- James Mason, Sue Lyon and Shelley Winters-
The novel is worse, as it deals a "love affair" between a 14 year old girl & a mature man, but in the film they put Lyon who was 16 or 17 at the time- So... The Code ....
But I really think it,s a VERY, very risquee film for 1962- I haven,t seen the "new" version... but I don,t minded- This 1962 version is "strong" because Sue Lyon attitudes, faces, glances, and because of Mason way of looking her- It,s very clear what he feels about Lolita-
Shelley Winters splendid as always !!!!-
It,s incredible to think that AFTER the film,s premiere, the term "Lolita" becomes a common term to call "young girls with mature men"-
Once I read that Audrey Hepburn, in her first films, was LIKE a Lolita, But NOT a Lolita at all: the writer wrote that she have too much class to become one- However the film "Love in the Afternoon" was very much critized because of the difference of ages between Gary Cooper (56) & Audrey (26)- BUT... in the screen Audrey seems to be 20 and Cooper 65 !!!!!- Don,t forget "Sabrina": Audrey (23) & Bogart (53)- or in "Funny Face" Audrey (26) Astaire (57)- BUT the ONLY film public rejected was "Love in the afternoon"- Even Cooper was very upset with the critics...(He was ill at the time & really seems to be older)- Uncle

Uncle,
This is a film that I am very afraid to watch. I have never seen it. Is the young girl, Lolita, emotionally hurt in any way, or is she OK emotionally in the end? Does the film show that what the man is doing ( pursuing a young girl) is wrong? I cannot watch it if this type of relationship is shown in a good light. Please let me know.

Lolita is NOT hurt at the end- I was surprised at the ending !!- I mean: the plot surprises me-
Yes, the mature man is punished at the end-
Everything is showing in a "light" way, to say something- Nothing was explicit- And by ANY means it shows the relation in a "good light"- Don,t be affraid- Uncle- PS: See the 1962 version: the new one I never saw it....
