"Morocco" (1930) - Marlene Dietrich drama, directed by Josef von Sternberg:

"The Phantom Carriage" (1921) - excellent Swedish silent film, with ghosts and fantasy elements. Plot has theme in common with Dickens' "A Christmas Carol". Interesting early special effects, and a brutal scene similar to one found in Kubrick's "The Shining" .
