" One of the most popular teenage Stars of all time, Deanna Durbin was the high-spirited Little Miss Fixit of 21 contemporary fairy tales for Universal in late 30,s and early 40,s. Her clear, natural singing voice made her a star, but it was her warmth and agrreable spontaeity that made her screen image. She was just popular in Britain as in America.
She becomes Universal biggest Star, under the direction of Joe Pasternak and thereby saving the Studio from bankruptcy.
In mostly of her films she was a "fairly tale character" as she herself has described her image. As in many of her movies she was matchmaking (this time: her parents), a little bit cleverer than the adults and a superb singer."-
