A Star is Born (Judy)
Does anyone know where I can find this movie online? I know it's on TCM tomorrow, but I'll be missing it because I'll be at a farewell party for my friend. I'd really like to see it, but I can't miss the party!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: A Star is Born (Judy)
I'll see if I can get it, Bailey as it's a film I've never seen but heard so much about. Anyone the difference between the 1937 version and the 1954? Which is considered the best?

Re: A Star is Born (Judy)
I've only seen a 7 min clip on YT. But thanks!
And I don't know the difference between any of the versions. There's also one, I think from the 70s, made with Barbara Streisand. Robert (Osborne) was talking about how everyone was in support of the movie and wanted to help because it was something Judy really wanted to do. So maysbe this version is the best?

Re: A Star is Born (Judy)
I've seen a majority of A Star is Born with Judy. I watched it last summer on her birthday, but then I got a little distracted when my Dean Martin: Cool Then, Cool Now photo album came in. I do know that it's amazing, and like so many others that year at the Oscars, I really am shocked that Grace Kelly won instead of Judy. Granted, I've yet to see the film that she won for, but I know it cannot possibly be better than Judy's portrayal.
I have the 1937 version with Fredric March, and as I love Fredric March, I think I'll finally pop it in the DVD sometime soon, and I'll get back on which I think is better.

Here's a link:
http://stagevu.com/video/rylbhiqjldmk
click download - not play. I've never had it work when I hit play! It may take several minutes to work, but it should.
I've seen both versions. I love Judy Garland so much, she's my favorite actress ever!I can't think of a single song I don't like from Judy's version. It's funny, sad, romantic and dramatic! Recently though, I've discovered Fredric March, and he's simply astounding in his capabilities as an actor. I love his version too.
So, what I would say about the versions is this: If you like Judy and musicals, you should see her version. If you don't really care for musicals and want a semi-heavy drama with good acting, go with Mr. March version. Hope that helps!
P.S. you can find Fredric March's version on youtube easy!

Re: A Star is Born (Judy)
In classic Hollywood there are TWO cases of "stolen Oscars": 1954 from Judy Garland, and 1955 from Susan Hayward-
In the case of Judy..she was considerer, in 1954, the "bad girl" from Hollywood, Grace Kelly the "good one"- So.. Kelly won over Judy- This episode... is still remember- A real CRIME-

I saw the country girl a few years ago. The story isn't as good and neither is the acting (but I don't like Grace Kelly anway. So, maybe I'm a bit biased : / I can tell by the finished product that Judy worked twice as hard (and she was pregnant too!)
