Is it just me or did Frankie's poolside "Mind If I Make Love To You" number hit anybody else's ear a little awkwardly? And I'm not just referring to the lyrical composition (situationally speaking), the song just seemed a little forced in there. In my humble opinion, that is. :P

Well, I don,t know you: but I don,t like Grace Kelly and Sinatra... so... / I find Kelly very beautiful and elegant BUT not a good actress, very cold indeed!!- And Sinatra..except in "Pal Joey" I never care -

While I do share the opinion that Grace Kelly is a wee bit cold ("cold" actually sums up my opinion quite nicely!) I usually enjoy Sinatra's presence in films, High Society is a rare miss for him in my opinion.

Nice to meet you Ivonne! :greetings-waveyellow: Have you seen Frank in Guys And Dolls?

I've watched in the past couple of days:

Smilin' Through (1932) with Fredric March, Leslie Howard, and Norma Shearer; I enjoyed it immensely, though I do not care for Fredric with a mustache . . . just doesn't go in my opinion.

Life Begins (1932) with A. Eric Linden and Loretta Young; very blunt for it's time, and still holds today.

The Devil and Miss Jones (1941) with Robert Cummings, Charles Coburn, and Jean Arthur; lovely film, Jean absolutely shines.

Toys in the Attic (1963) with Dean Martin and Geraldine Page; anybody that has the audacity to say that Dean couldn't act, should definitely watch this film . . . and if they say he still can't act, I'm gonna give them a good left hook in the jaw because man oh man . . . Dean is AMAZING!

Nice to meet you too!!!- No, I didn,t see that movie. I only saw some scenes from it..and..well, not my kind of film- I LOVE musicals but.. not THAT kind. With Sinatra I saw many: "From here to Eternity", "The man with the golden arm", some of his MGM musicals, "High Society", "Pal Joey"... etc etc- I think that I don,t like his "persona"... I don,t know...

Ivonne wrote:Lovely Lydia sent me the link to see "The awful truth "... 1937, with Irene Dunne and Cary Grant- I love it !!!!.
1937 fashions were rather "strange".. as in that same year skirts were begining to be shorter and wider, and shoulders were much in "evidence" with those big "arrangements" in the top of the sleeves- Sorry but I don,t know the correct words to explain these changes, but women shoulders began to "grow"- I love those strange changes!!
And Miss Dunne is amazingly comic here !!- There is a scene in a night-club where a girl,s dress "moves" with the wind...VERY amusing !!- And when Dunne appears at that mansion, nearly at the end !!.. HAHAH-
An interesting point is that there is a song call "gone with the wind" and as this film is from 1937, and GWTW book was published in 1936, maybe....they used the title, I don,t know.
The dog (Asta???) is a star in itself !!!!- I LOVE THIS FILM !!-

oh I know! This film is awesome and I just watched it last week... I LOVED IT SO MUCH!!

Oh wow! Uncle is talking about my pictures... :romance-heartspink: oh that makes me feel special!!!!!!!!!!
I'll have to see about doing that sometime, but the only thing is I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to my pictures... they're pretty special to me and I know that none of you classic family would do anything, but anyone on the internet maybe could... :?
But I might try and post a few if you really want to see them Ivonne! You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear that you want to see my pictures :D :D :D

I watched "Kid Galahad" (1937) last night. I usually don't watch boxing films, but this one was good. Bette Davis and Edward G. Robinson were in it.
