Ultimate Love Story
If you all had to list (in order if possible
) 5 different films on "Love Stories", what order would they go in?
And what classic film would you call the "Ultimate Love Story?"

I've had to think about this for a very long time, and even still I'm not quite sure about it, they'll most likely change, but for right now, that's what I'm going with.
5. Portrait of Jennie
4. Roman Holiday
3. Gone with the Wind
2. An Affair to Remember
1. Casablanca

Re: Ultimate Love Story
Mhhmmmm.... This is a really good question. The way I'm taking it, I think you (David) meant more than just liking a romantic
movie in general, but liking the actual romance between the two people. In that case...I have no idea... I can't make movie lists because the first seven movies that come to my head have Barbara Stanwyck in them, and the next three star Ray Milland.
I'll have to think about it more...

I'll have to think about it more...I lead a Barbara Stanwyck appreciation life.

Haha, I know what you mean Natalie - so many great films
R.C. - I'll be making my list before long, but first I want to see "An Affair to Remember" (plan to see it tomorrow). I've heard so much about it

Re: Ultimate Love Story
David, I've read this yesterday and said to myself: "Sarah, think about it, tomorrow you will know." Well, I still don't know really, it's tough to name just five, but I will try.
5. The Thin Man Series (I know, it's not a love story but Nick & Nora have a great relationship in my opinion)
4. The best Years of our Lives (because it's about love in so many variations)
3. Casablanca (no explanation needed I guess
)
2. Waterloo Bridge (a perfect example of the "love never dies" thing)
1. All that Heaven allows (Don't ask me why, this movie got me...)
I'm sure tomorrow I would make another list and I just realized I've chosen movies from "love categories" but maybe not the ultimate love stories. Oh dear, David, stop asking such difficult questions!

I've thinking this and still I can't figure out if this is what I really think. Still, for now I go for Casablanca. I think it has all the elements a love story needs, and they sum up in a great way.

OH DEAR SARAH !!!!!!- I think we really have same tastes.....In fashions, Stars and in this:
1- "Waterloo Bridge. (LOVE above ALL, even after death. The MOST romantic of films..I guess. And THAT valse !!)
2- "All that heaven allows" ( I would love to be Jane Wyman there!!)
3- "The ghost and Mrs Muir" (well, the end TELLS all the film in itself!!)
4- "Notorious" (Grant loves so much Ingrid, and viceversa!!.When he went to her bedroom and saved her!!)
5- "The best years of our life". (story between Peggy and Fred is LOVELY- Also between Vilma and that sweet soldier)
I am crying a bit remembering some scenes from this films !!!- I am certainly a fool, but I can,t stop it!!-
I don,t put GWTW here as I think that.. Scarlett and Rhett were in love, BUT at different times !!. It,s SO sad !!- (more crying !!)
And I KNOW we have to put ONLY five...
... but "Love Letters", "Portrait of Jennie", "Letter from an unknown women" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- I CAN;T STOP !!!!!- naughty Ivonne !!
