Why thank you dahling! (I always think of Tallulah Bankhead when I thank someone  ) I love it too, it's such a stunning photo of her.

Natalie wrote:I'm glad to know I AM not the only one who doesn't like him!! I thought I was!! But, I feel the same way about him as you do. I actually like him in "To Catch a Thief", too.
I think it's partly because of his acting in Talk of the Town that makes me dislike him just a little bit. To me he seemed slightly wooden, especially in the beginning when Jean Arthur says "You are crying!" and he isn't at all. Or maybe it's just that Jean Arthur was such a great actress that she makes her costars look like amateurs :handgestures-thumbupright: But I do love him in certain roles, as I said.

Okay, I'm not going to "bash" you as David said because we are all entitled our own opinions, no matter how wrong yours and Natalie's are ;) , but I can see your point of view. I don't know if you have seen it or not, but I suggest you watch Penny Serenade (1941) which he costarred with Irene Dunne (coincidentally, this was her favorite film that she ever did). If you still feel the same about him then I know there is nothing more I can do, if, however, your mindset is completely changed by him, I welcome you to the club. :D

Oh, and I'll forgive you for what you said about Cary being wooden because in the same breath you said that Jean Arthur was such a great actress, which she totally was (she's my favorite, in case you didn't know).

You've definitely got to watch it. It's heartbreaking, but it's a must see in my opinion.

Portrait of Jennie is one of the most beautiful films ever. I remember when I watched it for the first time. It was long before I got into the classics, and though I don't have TCM up here, once that year it was a freebie, meaning we had it for about a month, and my parents and I watched it. I was blown away; and then at the ending, I was like "NOOOOOOOOO!" I didn't see it coming whatsoever. I remembered it over the years, and then when I finally got into the classics, it was one of the first to go on my Must Own List . . . I'm proud to say that I now do. :D
