What are Cubepoints?

I noticed user My Account, there's a place called "Points". I see there is a legend explaining what activities give how many points. What are these points used for? Cold someone please explain this to me? Thanks!

Right now they're not really used for anything except displaying the most active members. or how active a particular member is 
But in the future, they may very possible be used for other ideas
