Recent Movies Watched
Re: Recent Movies Watched
I liked it well enough. Rita was the reason why I watched it. Larry Parks career was ruined because he was declared a communist I think during the Red Scare in Hollywood, but even if it hadn't been I don't know how big of a star he would have become. I liked him well enough though. Here's a link to if you want to see it any time soon:

Re: Recent Movies Watched
I recently watched "The Hard Way" (1943), with Ida Lupino. Here's a link:

Lupino was great in the film, although she played a very ruthless character. I'm just getting to know
her, and have seen "Road House", "Ladies in Retirement", and "The Light That Failed". All were
good.

Thanks Cheryl, you saved me the trouble of uploading it for Jake
Probably my favorite Lupino film.

Exactly what I felt Carmen.
Looks like we all agree on that. Susan should have had more time, but Ava was great. I expected that after Ava died Susan would really come, but not really...
And yes, isn't Gregory Peck a pleasure. He's like the perfect man.

Re-watched Charlie's Aunt and was struck once again by the absolute, sheer perfection of it.
Also saw The Strawberry Blonde again.

Re: Recent Movies Watched
Just saw Paul Newman in Somebody Up There Likes Me--1956 I believe. Amazing movie, Paul's a natural at the accent and it's a shame Sal Mineo had such a tiny role. Definitely one of my favorite boxing films.
Thanks for the watch Cheryl, you're a doll
If you're just getting to know Ida I definitely recommend you watch They Drive By Night 1940, where she plays alongside George Raft & (barely) Humphrey Bogart. In my opinion she gives a 5-star performance in pretty much any film she's in but I'm willing to bet you'll like this one, if you liked The Hard Way.

Say, Dan, you haven't got an online link to that one have you? I like movies containing ABSOLUTE, SHEER PERFECTION.
Also, I watched "High Society" (1956). HYSTERICAL. I love Grace Kelly so much! Frank Sinatra was great, but Bing Crosby was better. I really liked it. A lot of people say "The Philadelphia Story" is better, but seeing as how I dislike the leads in TPS I can't imagine liking it better than I did this one.
I lead a Barbara Stanwyck appreciation life.
