Yes, "A Time to Love and a Time to Die" is with John Gavin and it's really sad...but beautiful too! I love it, also because I adore John Gavin. ;)
I saw that movie with Julianne Moore too, I believe its name was "Far from Heaven" and it reminded me so much of the Sirk movies, it really was a homage to them and I liked it (I believe we already shared our different opinions about explicity in movies, haven't we?).
I like both versions of "Imitation of Life" the same. The first one has Claudette and she was wonderful. ;) Sirk's version deals in a way with the role of Sarah Jane that is more free and makes the conflict more clear, probably because it was shot 20 years later and also because it had Sirk as a director. I love both, like I already said, they're different but both great. :)
I've seen "Peyton Place" and I loved it! Very tough story, it moved me a lot when I saw it. A beautiful movie.

No, I haven't seen it yet :( I've only seen a few clips with Agnes. I really like the bright colors in that movie, though! :P Like in that scene where Agens is with Jane and she's wearing that blue outfit, and it looks so great with her hair! ;) :D

Oh, that's fun, I've just seen "All that Heaven allows" last night too! :D
And I agree with you Aggie, the bright colours are great - especially with the red hair of Agnes, she looked awesome! Her role was wonderful anyway...and her name was Sara. ;)

HEY niece: That scene where Hudson told Wyman that she has to choose between him and her "life".. and she says that she choose her life and go... HIS FACE was so sad !!: cause I think that he was expecting, her, to say "I choose you" !!!!!- And at the end.. the music, the window, and the deer... makes me cry like mad !!-       - And another: I LOVE the scene where Wyman put her hands in her face and realized she was wrong with Hudson, and her daughter told her that if he really loves her..he will wait- ( I wanna kill her daughter, before, but in this scene I like her).
And what about "Mona" ????????:

I love this scene Uncle Carlos, for me, it's one of Rock Hudson's best scenes ever! And of course, I hate to see Cary leaving, I wanted her to say exactly that but I knew she wouldn't, I guess that mothers often feel that when their children are unhappy, nothing else can be as important as that.
I won't start about Mona now because for me, she's the perfect example of a woman I hoped I would never meet (but I had to realize that every town has its Mona, so my hopes didn't fulfill themselves). To be honest, in comparison to the son, the daughter was nearly sympathetic to me because I couldn't stand him, he was such an arrogant person. But the Christmas scenes are great! First when Cary decorates the tree and realizes how lonely she is, then the scene with her daughter...I just love everything about this movie. Especially the music! But I couldn't find it anywhere. :(

I cannot tell you how often I've seen the movie, I stopped counting but it must have been many, many times. It was the first classic movie I saw (apart from the Miss Marple movies starring Margarete Rutherford that were made in the 60s and the Austrian Sissi movies starring Romy Schneider) and I use to watch it nearly everytime when I need a good tear-jerker.
I think it's strange that Jane was nominated for "Magnificent Obsession" but not for "All that Heaven allows" because "Magnificent Obsession" was much more soap opera style than "All that Heaven allows" I think.
Talking about the son, I think I understand you perfectly.
And I'm looking forward to the songs - thanks Uncle Carlos!
