In Beloved Memory of Susan Hayward

Postby David » Wed Mar 14, 2012 7:05 pm

Been awhile I know since I've made a video ;) But here's my annual video to Susan Hayward, this time on two of her most powerful performances - I'll Cry Tomorrow and I Want to Live. Enjoy :)

You're right David, those were two of her most powerful performances, and that was a POWERFUL tribute. You have chosen the most perfect music to go along with it. i had tears in my eyes watching it, and remembering her desperation in "I want to live". Good job!!!! Thanks for sharing.

Love that tribute David, it's indeed very powerful and her performances are too. I really have to check out both movies, they look very good. A few days ago, I watched "The Conqueror" because it was on TV and had Susan in it, but that one wasn't made for me...
...that when you turned and smiled at me, a Nightingale sang in Berkeley Square.

Thank you!

I don't know if "The Conqueror" is to anybody's taste - or all most anyways. It has its problems :P Besides, it's what killed Duke and Susie. :(

I've heart of that, they mentioned it after the movie was over...Strange story and really sad. Also for Aggie Moorehead and Dick Powell. Sure, you can never tell if it was just that or if there were other factors too, but for me it sounded very plausible. And when you look at the movie as a result, it's even more sad.

Exactly, it would at least of been better if the movie was a great success story - instead of poor directing etc. Duke, Susie and the rest of the cast had to do the best they could with their array of talent in a poor film :(

I'll have to watch those two films sometime, she is certainly very good at powerful performances. The Conqueror - it's almost a must-see because it's so bad...the Shakespearean-like dialogue coupled with Wayne's western drawl is just ridiculous  It's so sad that that's what killed them and a lot of the cast :(

Haha, yes the language is rather funny in the Conqueror. Its problems aside, I still think I would give it a 6-6.5 rating - unlike IMDb that scores it at a 3.1. I mean seriously, it isn't all that bad, especially considering that's what audiences liked in those days. Besides, Susie was awfully pretty in it :P

Same here David, 3.1 is really very low. And, after all, they tried and you could see that at least. :D
Besides, I have to save such low ratings for those horrible German idyllic world movies from the 50s where everything is so bad that you really cannot watch them without feeling ashamed.
