Just finished this. I loved it. I loved the actors, I loved the lighting, I loved the plot, I loved the outfits. All of it. I've actually never seen a Joseph Cotten film before. I know this will not be my last, either. I can't even describe how much I loved this.
I think my favorite scene was when they were saying that the murdere had been found and that little smile creeped over Uncle Charlie's face. I loved it. That and the library scene.

I agree, this is a great film. I love Joseph Cotten. He gives a subtle but powerful performance in all of his movies. If you are interested in seeing more, you might try these:

Wasn't that good?
It's one of my all time favorite Hitchock films - everything flows together so well, and just keeps you guessing
And there are so many different, unique characters that cast a great broadness - the father and Herbie always talking about murder, intellectual Ann, the kind Mother, of course young Charlie, and confident Uncle Charlie...really just great. The only thing I didn't like, and it's a very minor point, is Macdonald Carey's hair. It was annoyingly stinking up every time he removed his hat
Good movie though, good movie.

This is an amazing movie!!! I love it very much. I love the way pure psychological suspense is handled throughout most of the movie. At least all the first part, what creates tension is the...well... doubt.
It's a matter of expressions, of moments, of words... It's a real masterpiece!! I love Joseph Cotten in it. He's perfect!
Oh, I was really nervous at the train scene too because, knowing Hitchcock, I think he was perfectly capable of killing Teresa Wright.

Wait...What?...You all love this? WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME. It was so uninteresting. And it's not that I thought I wouldn't like it either, I went in to this expecting to come out with a new favorite movie! But no... It didn't surprise me, it didn't thrill me. Uncle Charlie sure as heck didn't scare me! I was just mad at him for disliking the world and attempting to murder little Charlie. Although, I do rarely like Hitchcocks...(seriously, me and my inability to appreciate apparent greatness must be losing me friends). I did like Teresa Wright...always have liked her.

Here comes Natalie again...
Hey, Nat, what do you mean you don't like Hitchcock?
Well, I guess there's just weird people in this world.
Haha, just kidding. Still we've got our common darling Capra, haven't we?

"Here comes Natalie again..." Huh? Am I missing something? I can't help it if Hitch doesn't entertain me as much as others...I find his movies rather boring to be honest. I do admit to being weird though. But, YES OF COURSE CAPRA!!! Apparently I love the Capra man too much to make room in my heart for any other directors...

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean that as an offense. I just noticed it sounds quite rude.
Really sorry. I meant that as part of the joke in some other discussion lately, can't remember which (maybe the one of TPS)... Oh, I don't know, just forget it. And yes, I understand that with Capra it's really difficult to give a place to someone else.
