Favourite Movie Quotes
Favourite Movie Quotes
I don't know if we had something like that here already but do you have favourite quotes from classics and other movies?
Some of mine are the following:
"'We never had any trouble.' How many times have I told you I hated you and believed it in my heart? How many times have you said you were sick and tired of me, that we were all washed up? How many times have we had to fall in love all over again?"
Myrna Loy, The best Years of our Lives
"I have no heroes, only some people I love."
Myrna Loy, From the Terrace
"This little strip of light
Twixt night and night,
Let us keep bright
Today!
And if tomorrow shall be sad,
Or never come at all, we've had
At least - Today."
Since you went away
"For nowadays the world is lit by lightning! Blow out your candles Laura - and so goodbye."
Arthur Kennedy, The Glass Menagerie
"Remember what you used to tell me? You said: 'Cry tomorrow. You've got all day tomorrow.'" Susan Hayward, I'll cry tomorrow
"At least I'd like to go away thinking it was just as hard for you to say no as it was for me to ask."
Susan Hayward, Where Love has gone
Journaliste américaine: Si vous donniez un conseil à une femme, que serait-il? (If you were to give advice to a woman, what would it be?)
Edith Piaf: Aimer. (Love.)
J.a.: A une jeune fille? (To a young girl?)
E.P.: Aimer. (Love.)
J.a.: A un enfant? (To a child?)
E.P.: Aimer. (Love.)
La vie en rose
"She's up there somewhere now. Maybe looking down at us. Maybe she sees us as tiny specks on the Earth's surface, just like Sigmund Jähn did back then. The country my mother left behind was a country she believed in, a country we kept alive till her last breath, a country that never existed in that form, a country that, in my memory, I will always associate with my mother."
Goodbye, Lenin!

Re: Favourite Movie Quotes
So glad you asked! My favorites are:
You're up to your beautiful hips in murder!
Henry Fonda, The Mad Miss Manton
How could I with my hands full of money?!
Claudette Colbert, Midnight
There was another one, but for the life of me I haven't been able to remember it.

I lead a Barbara Stanwyck appreciation life.

Re: Favourite Movie Quotes
Well, this would be a long list for me, there are so many great ones - but one that popped up in my mind was:
Vivian: Why did you have to go on?
Marlowe: Too many people told me to stop.
Humphrey Bogart in the Big Sleep 1946

Re: Favourite Movie Quotes
Sarah: WHERE'S THIS MYRNA MOVIE I HAVEN'T SEEN???
"So from now on I'm going to be doing the chasing. And believe me brother, you're going to know you've been chased!"
Myrna Loy, I Love You Again
-"I haven't had a decent night's sleep in months!"
-"Oh, insomnia?"
-"No, parties!"
Never Say Goodbye
"I'm competing with something medieval!"
Jerry White (BBS)
"Well I was just thinking how cold I will be when they take off my skin and I sit around in my bones."
Too Hot To Handle
-"You're going to make me an old maid!"
-"Only until you're 18."
Myrna, Shirley Temple(BBS)
"Now Mommy, if any trouble starts, you dive right under the table. Major Sculley and I will join you there."
Nick Charles
-"Steve, am I what you call the jealous type?"
-"Jealous? You? Oh ho! Why, you haven't an ATOM of jealousy in you. Not a bit! That's one of your great virtues."
-"Then why do I want to chop your head off?"
Myrna and Bill (Love Crazy)
-"You remind me of a man."
-"What man?"
-"Man with the power."
-"What power?"
-"Power of hoodoo."
-"Hoodoo?"
-"You do."
-"Do what?"
-"Remind me of a man."
-"What man?"
-"A man with the power."
-"What power?"
-"Give up?"
-"Give up. Let's go."
Myrna, Cary Grant (BBS)
And lastly...
"Teacher says, 'Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings.'"
"Atta boy Clarence."
And we all know where that's from!

Re: Favourite Movie Quotes
Oh, Sarah, what a great topic. It's hard though...
"One can feel nostalgia for places one has never seen."
Greta Garbo,Queen Christina
"Didn't you ever want to know what's on the other side of the mountain?"
Ronald Colman, Lost Horizon
"You know something, Phil? I suddenly want to live to be very old. Very. I want to be around to see what happens. The world is stirring in very strange ways. Maybe this is the century for it. Maybe that's why it's so troubled. Other centuries had their driving forces. What will ours have been when men look back? Maybe it won't be the American century after all... or the Russian century or the atomic century. Wouldn't it be wonderful... if it turned out to be everybody's century... when people all over the world - free people - found a way to live together? I'd like to be around to see some of that... even the beginning. I may stick around for quite a while."
Anne Revere, Gentleman's agreement
"One little action in one little front. It's not the whole answer, but it's gotta start somewhere."
Celeste Holm, Gentleman's agreement
Audrey Hepburn: I already know an awful lot of people and until one of them dies I couldn't possibly meet anyone else.
Cary Grant: Well, if anyone goes on the critical list, let me know.
Charade (actually I could make all my list out of Charade quotes
)
I'll come out with more later, for sure. Oh, this is a real fun topic!
